Physician assistant Nathan Hamblin, born and raised in Santa Maria and graduate of Righetti High School, has been practicing medicine since 2013 and has been an integral part of our West Dermatology Santa Maria office since 2016. When you visit Nathan for a skin condition, you’ll feel at ease with his approachable demeanor as he delivers the personal attention you deserve.
Nathan is a Navy veteran who served as an aviation electrician, so you may be wondering why or how he got into medicine, particularly dermatology. As an electrician working on aircraft, there wasn’t much of an opportunity to interact with people, much less help them. A natural people person, Nathan transitioned to medicine so he could apply both his people skills and his penchant for fixing things to helping patients like you.
Nathan is a native of Santa Maria, but because of his Navy service, he attended colleges in both Washington state and Los Angeles before receiving his Master’s in PA Studies at Pacific University. He enjoys surfing and is the kind of cook who can take whatever’s in the kitchen and whip up something tasty.
Dermatology drew Nathan in once he saw the dynamics of hands-on patient interaction combined with the tangible results of improving skin. You’re encouraged to give him feedback on the options he provides so that you have a say in your treatment. He listens to your concerns with patience and empathy so that your treatment can be customized and then implemented to the best of your well-being. Nathan’s passion for the health of your skin and his empathy for your skin ailments are what drive him to deliver patient care that you can see and feel.
