Stimulate Hair Growth with PRP

We are excited to announce a nonsurgical treatment for hair loss! Performed by Dr. Jackie Levin, PRP or Platelet-Rich Plasma is an effective treatment that
stimulates hair growth and restores your natural hair.

What is PRP?

PRP is a simple and safe in-office procedure that stimulates the scalp, skin, and hair. Here’s how it works: We draw a small sample of your blood, which is mixed with a special reagent and processed to obtain a collection of growth factors and stimulating cells. We then inject the PRP into the scalp, where it stimulates and promotes hair growth.

Is PRP Safe?

Yes, it is. Medical literature published in Europe and the U.S. confirms the safety and efficacy of PRP therapy. For over 20 years, PRP therapy has been used as therapy for skin and wound healing and has become an established, effective medical treatment in oral surgery, neurosurgery, plastic surgery, sports medicine, and orthopedics. Implemented extensively in these specialties, it has produced positive outcomes and success. In fact, athletes like Kobe Bryant and Tiger Woods have overcome knee injuries with PRP treatment. For hair restoration, PRP therapy is both a preventative and therapeutic treatment option to maintain and promote hair growth.

Am I a candidate for PRP?

2 weeks after your procedure. PRP is an exciting non-surgical therapeutic option if you require stimulation of hair growth for cosmetic and/or medical hair loss
conditions such as: female or male pattern baldness (AKA Androgenic Alopecia), Telogen efuvium, Anagen Efuvium, Traction alopecia, and Alopecia Areata.

Using PRP, we can address discreet areas of the scalp or the entire scalp, depending on your individual needs. We have used PRP to successfully improve the health, strength, fullness, and volume of hair.

What can I expect the day of my procedure?

Make sure your scalp is clean before you come in for your treatment session, and drink plenty of water several hours beforehand. After you arrive, we will draw a small amount of blood, like a routine blood test. We’ll prepare the PRP by separating the platelets and growth factors (the good stuff!) and then spinning them down to a high concentration with the Eclipse Medical PRP System, a closed sterile system where the platelets and growth factors are concentrated to four times the normal blood values. Then we inject the highly-concentrated PRP into the treatment area. The treatment is well-tolerated and no sedation or pain medications are needed at any time. After the procedure, you can wash your hair at any time, although we recommend avoiding hair treatments like hair coloring or relaxing for 2 weeks after your procedure.

How many treatments do I need?

For best results, monthly PRP treatments are recommended until you achieve the amount of hair growth you want. For mild hair loss or thinning hair, this could take as few as two or three sessions. For moderate to severe hair loss, this could take a longer series of treatment sessions. Once you achieve the hair growth you want, a maintenance session is recommended every 6 months.

Can I use other medical therapies while doing PRP?

Absolutely! In fact, we encourage it. Please ask Dr. Levin for a list of her favorite supplements, topical products and, if desired, oral medications to stimulate hair growth.
