April Ethridge, MPAS, P.A.-C

It's obvious to see that April Ethridge took the ideals of the United States Air Force - Integrity First. Service Before Self. Excellence In All We Do. - to heart. After 25 years of military service, she has certainly aimed high in career pursuits. Today she is a Physician Assistant in dermatology, but the flight path was a winding one.

She began her medical career as an admissions clerk and emergency room technician at Hamilton Air Force Base in California. As a non-commissioned officer she served as an ER shift leader or was in charge of the Family Practice Clinic, Dermatology Clinic, or the Maternity Suite at various Air Force bases. She also taught EMT classes at Odessa College in Texas.

But it was her experience as a supervisor for a busy dermatology clinic at the USAF Regional Hospital at the Elmendorf Air Force Base in Alaska where she found her passion. "The physician amazed me at his ability to diagnose internal malignancy by lesions on the skin. I was hooked," recalls April. "He actually taught me most about basic dermatology."

From that experience her path was clear. Although she has extensive experience as a PA in a Primary Care Clinic, Emergency Services, Family Practice, Urgent Care, GYN Clinic and Internal Medicine, April has continually worked in dermatology, logging more than two decades in the field, including 16 years as a PA.

"As a PA I'm able to treat the majority of dermatology complaints," said April, who has been married to her husband for 34 years and has two grown children, one granddaughter, two dogs and three cats. "Every patient is unique to me and their concerns become mine."

Integrity, service and excellence obviously rule her life professionally and personally.
