Dr. Payam Abrishami realizes the fundamental importance of integrating clinical and histological presentations of disease. Dermatopathology may be his passion, but he views himself as a clinician first. He always makes time to answer all questions, but it's how he answers them that is most impressive. His effortless explanation on any topic is valuable in connecting with him. Following his training, he accepted a position as Assistant Chief of Dermatopathology at UCLA. As a full time professor in the departments of dermatology and pathology, he was active in training residents and fellows, unifying the programs and enjoyed bringing a new style and approach to the University - drawing on his diverse background and training. He remains on the part time faculty of the University and lectures regulary at UCLA, Harbor and in Academy meetings.

Dr. Ronald Shiell loves a good challenge. While serving as chief of the dermatology division at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY, he taught students pursuing a career in medicine. At the same time, he was appointed director of Mohs micrographic surgery, establishing an all-new Mohs surgery center for the university.

Dr. Shiell also plays an important, rigorous role in relation to Mohs micrographic surgery within the West Dermatology network. Since 2001, he has been the primary Mohs surgeon for the entire dermatology group. Dr. Shiell is one of the busiest Mohs surgeons in the country performing over 2,500 cases per year at multiple West Dermatology locations including those in Arizona and Northern California.
Perhaps his favorite challenge, however, is one he shares with his wife, an endocrinologist, in raising their family. The time they enjoy most is spent together with their two sons. "It's amazing the joy you can get out of watching your children have fun, evolve and grow."
